Satisfyer Curvy (1+ / 2+ / 3+) Review
The three Satisfyer Curvy models (1+ / 2+ / 3+) came out in August 2020. With them, Satisfyer initiated a renewal of its range, as the new models introduce a whole new level of quality, primarily focusing on the materials and workmanship.
Besides employing pressure waves for clitoral stimulation, they also come with a vibration motor. So you can enjoy two different types of pleasure at the same time. Particularly worthy of note is the fact that the vibration and pressure waves can be controlled independently of each other, which gives you a large number of exciting combinations.
Before we start, we would like to reveal that the Satisfyer Curvy 2+ came second in our major Satisfyer test. The Curvy 1+ also did pretty well and made it into our top 5. Find out which of these two models suits you better in the course of this article.
The New App Control Function
The Satisfyer Curvy pressure wave clitoral stimulators can be controlled via an app, which is a new feature for Satisfyer. The new Satisfyer Connect app has won the TWICE Picks Award at CES 2020. The CES in Las Vegas is one of the largest trade fairs for consumer electronics in the world. So that's saying a lot, yet at the time, some users seemed to have issues with the app, as reviews in the Google Play Store indicate. However, Satisfyer has always endeavoured to fix bugs and continuously improve the app. So now there should be no more problems. Personally, we never had any problems with the app right from the start.
You can design your own vibration patterns in the app and even share them with other users. Another highlight is the possibility to sync the Satisfyer Curvy pressure wave vibrators with music (e.g. via Spotify) or ambient sounds (via smartphone microphone).
The claim that the Satisfyer Connect App does not collect any data on user behavior, as stated everywhere, is unfortunately not entirely true. It actually does, but not secretly, as everything is detailed in the privacy policy. Besides that, many functions would not be possible if the app did not collect data, but that's another topic. Nevertheless, the app is safe and complies with European data protection regulations.
Differences between the three Curvy models
Each of the three Curvy models has 11 pressure wave intensities. Additionally, the Curvy 1+ and 2+ provide a choice of ten different vibration programmes, while the Curvy 3+ offers eleven. Let's take a look at the other similarities and differences between the three toys first in a table and then in detail:
Satisfyer Curvy Comparison Table.
Packaging and Scope of Delivery
All 3 models are presented in a beautiful box with a viewing window and hygiene seal, making them perfectly suitable as a gift.
They always come with a magnetic USB charging cable, a quick start guide, safety instructions and information about the warranty. The Satisfyer Curvy 1+ is available in purple-red and white, the Curvy 2+ in pale pink and white and the Curvy 3+ only in pink.
Design and Materials
As the name suggests, all three Curvy models have an ergonomically curved shape, with the Curvy 3+ also having a flat, wider shape. The other two are more rounded, voluminous and tapered towards the end.
Their surface is made of smooth, medical-grade silicone, giving them a high-quality feel. The Satisfyer Curvy 1+ also has ABS plastic in the casing, which is why it is slightly heavier.
Previously, only the Satisfyer Penguin and Satisfyer Pro 3+ models had a silicone surface, both of which are also recommendable.
By the way, the noise level is more or less the same for all three models. Compared to other Satisfyers, the Curvy models are among the quieter toys, as their silicone surface naturally dampens the motor noise better than a plastic casing.
Battery of the Satisfyer Curvy Devices
The many features of the Satisfyer Curvy devices consume a lot of battery. As a result, it only lasts an hour or less for all three models. The charging time is quite long at approx. 3 hours, but this is nothing new with Satisfyer. By the way, the first charge can take up to 8 hours. However, this does not mean that you should charge the device for 8 hours just to be on the safe side, as the battery can be damaged if it is charged for too long. Therefore, please keep an eye on the LED: if it is flashing, the device is charging, and when it lights up continuously, then the battery is fully charged. After that, you should immediately disconnect your Satisfyer Curvy from the power supply.
Shape and Size of the Stimulation Heads
As we have seen, the battery, charging time, functions, and scope of delivery are the same for all three models. We also believe that the same motors have been installed in all three devices, both for vibration and pressure waves, so there are no differences here. What makes the difference, however, is the shape and size of the stimulation head. This determines, for example, how much vibration actually reaches its destination, and this also applies to the pressure waves.
The opening of the stimulation head on the Satisfyer Curvy 1+ is much wider than on the other two models. This also means that the pressure waves can spread over a larger area. This is an advantage if you have a larger clitoris, for example, or if you are already familiar with pressure wave technology and want to put more focus there, especially as the very low silicone head means that your clitoris is closer to the pressure chamber.
The head of most Satisfyer pressure wave stimulators is made of soft, flexible silicone. This is also the case here, but it is quite flat and barely protrudes beyond the opening. This means that hardly any vibration is lost when the toy is in vibration mode. The width of the head is sufficient for good transmission.
The Satisfyer Curvy 2+ has the most voluminous head. This toy strongly resembles the Satisfyer Pro 3+, which also has a quite wide head. However, there are some improvements to the Curvy 2+, such as its silicone head being less soft than that of the Pro 3+, which results in better vibration transmission to the skin. And due to the smaller opening and the voluminous head, the contact surface on the vulva is larger, putting more emphasis on the vibrations, which does not mean that the pressure wave stimulation is weak. It is perfectly adequate, even at level 3 out of 10, at least for our tester.
Now let's move on to the Satisfyer Curvy 3+. It does not have a silicone attachment, but is made in one piece. The opening of its stimulation head is about the same size as that of the Curvy 2+, but there is hardly any contact surface with the skin to transmit the vibration optimally.
Curvy 1+ and 2+ have already turned out quite well and cover different needs and preferences, so why another model? Perhaps the Curvy 3+ was intended to be more versatile? This idea is not so far-fetched, as this pressure wave vibrator differs in shape from the other two. It is not round and tapered, but rather flat and wide. And although the vibration motor is probably the same as the one used in the other two Curvy models, the vibration seems to be stronger or more perceptible here. Due to this and its wide shape, this toy is also suitable for external use on the entire vulva. If you want to use it on your clit only, we recommend using the edge, as this is where the vibration is strongest.
We also briefly wondered whether the manufacturer wanted to create a couple-friendly pressure wave toy here, but many aspects contradict this idea. The other two Curvy models are a little more suitable for this purpose. There are certain sex positions, such as the “Reverse Cowgirl” or “Doggy Style”, in which using a Satisfyer Curvy would theoretically be possible. However, there are also positions in which it is almost impossible, e.g. in the missionary position: even though the flat shape of the Curvy 3+ would make it easier to fit between you two, you would still have to press the opening of the stimulation head against your clitoris and for this to happen, the opposite end would have to point away from you. So the toy would only be in the way, meaning it would hinder sexual intercourse. For optimal use in the missionary position, the head would have had to be more curved, like that of the We-Vibe Melt, for example.
Control and how to use
The intensity of the pressure waves is controlled by 2 buttons on all three models. The third button turns the vibration on and switches between the vibration programmes.
The button to increase the pressure wave intensity is a multifunctional button, as it is also used to connect the toy via Bluetooth to your smartphone, tablet, Apple Watch or PC. To do this, you have to press it for 4 seconds, after which the Satisfyer will vibrate twice and the LED will start to flash. Now the Curvy is in pairing mode and you can connect it as usual to your smartphone or another device. You can then control it via the app or have someone else control it, provided you are connected to the internet and your partner also has the app on their phone.
The app control is also particularly useful when the toy is under water, for example in the bathtub. All Curvy devices are 100% waterproof. However, the Bluetooth range decreases significantly under water.
By the way, the toys can also be controlled by certain movements of the arm when using an Apple Watch.
This type of clitoral stimulator is always used in the same way. Spread your labia slightly apart and place the stimulation head with the opening on your clitoris; lubricant helps provide a better sensation. It works by enclosing the clitoris by a light suction effect and stimulating it with pulsating pressure waves. Additionally, you can activate vibration.
After use, please clean thoroughly with water and mild soap. You can also use a toy cleaner.
Satisfyer Curvy Price Comparison
The price is the same for all Curvy models. They cost £58.95 in the official Satisfyer online shop, making them among the most expensive models.
When they came out in August 2020, there were great deals available in many online shops. Today, though, only a few British shops carry the Curvy models, but there are still some offers. The cheapest prices can be found at Sinful and Notino. There, they cost between £32 and £57, which still represents a significant saving compared to the original price, at least in part.
