Womanizer Starlet 3 Review (With Comparison to Starlet 1 & 2)

The little star of the Womanizer range has received an update and is now in its third generation. The Starlet 3 is a pressure wave clitoral stimulator. It works differently to a vibrator because the clitoris is not stimulated by vibration but by gentle, pulsating pressure waves without direct contact. As a result, overstimulation does not occur as quickly as with normal lay-on vibrators and also the orgasm feels different.

The Womanizer Starlet 3 has a simple but pretty design and a handy format, perfect for the handbag, the nightstand or the bathtub. We will introduce you to the new Womanizer model while also taking a look at the first two Starlet models.

A quick description of the Womanizer Starlet 3

The new generation of the Womanizer Starlet comes in 5 new colours and with 2 additional intensity levels. The design has actually remained the same compared to the Starlet 2, which was released two years earlier. The last two generations are visually much more appealing than the Starlet 1 model and also fit in much better with the rest of the Womanizer range.

The Starlet 1 was only IPX4 splash-proof. This means that it could not be used in the bathtub or shower. This is different with the Starlet models 2 and 3, which are completely waterproof (protection class IPX7).

The Starlet models 2 and 3 are very easy to operate because they have two buttons. This is another aspect that has been improved compared to the Starlet 1, which had only one button. So you could only increase the intensity and not switch back and forth. This means that after intensity level 4, pressing the button again would take you back to intensity level 1. In addition, the Starlet 1 was less powerful and much louder.

The battery life has remained the same for all three models and is in fact quite short at just under 30 minutes. Likewise, the number of intensity levels (4) is the same for Starlet 2 as for Starlet 1. However, two new intensity levels have been added to the new Starlet 3 and its technology has been improved, which is quite noticeable.

In terms of dimensions, Starlet 2 and 3 are slightly larger than Starlet 1, but still small, making them the second smallest Womanizer models. At £69, they are also the most affordable ones.

Overall, the Starlet 3 is designed to be minimalist and budget-friendly. This raises the question: Does it work just as reliably as the larger models and who is it actually suitable for? That's what we want to find out in this test. Let's first take a closer look at the toy.

Unboxing and First Impression of the Starlet 3

Packaging of the Womanizer Starlet 3
Packaging of the Womanizer Starlet 3.

The Starlet 3 comes in a simple, small package that, unlike the previous model's, no longer includes a plastic window. In fact, there is no plastic at all. Overall, the brand seems to be moving in a more environmentally friendly direction following the introduction of the Womanizer Premium Eco.

Packaging of the Womanizer Starlet 2
The packaging of the Womanizer Starlet 2 had a viewing window and still included plastic, but this has changed with the Starlet 3 (see above).

On the side of the box, you will find a hygiene seal that you must remove or simply cut through before opening. The package includes the Womanizer Starlet 3, a USB charging cable (without a charger), a quick start guide and some safety information. A storage pouch, as included with other models, is not provided here, which is unfortunate, as the Starlet 3's small size actually makes it well-suited for travel.

The toy is available in the following colours: turquoise, indigo, violet, pink and grey. Unfortunately, red is not included this time; we actually quite liked the coral and cherry red versions of the Starlet 2, and the sapphire blue looked cool as well. However, the colours of the new generation are definitely also nice.

The dimensions of the Starlet 3 are 11.7 × 4.6 × 4.7 cm. Thanks to its compact size, it fits into any handbag and can be taken anywhere. Just make sure you put it in a storage pouch beforehand. As already mentioned, this is not included and must be purchased separately. You should also keep in mind that the Starlet 3 does not have a button lock function. Even though you would barely hear it on the low intensity levels, it is advisable to take precautions to avoid awkward situations.

What immediately stands out when holding it in your hands is the plastic casing. In terms of material and finish, the Starlet is not on the same level as the other Womanizer models. In comparison, it almost looks a little cheap. Nevertheless, the surface has a pleasant feel and the material is of course skin-friendly (free of phthalates, BPA and latex). This also applies to the removable attachment on the stimulation head, which is made of medical-grade silicone. The silicone attachment of the last two generations is shorter than that of the Starlet 1, and its opening is now oval, not longer round.

As far as handling is concerned, we can say: Since the Starlet 2 and 3 models are somewhat slimmer, longer and more ergonomic, they are much more comfortable to hold than the Starlet 1, but still nowhere near as comfortable as the larger Womanizers. They are just too small and too light. In addition, the placement of the buttons is not ideal, or at least that's the impression we got. This is a point that could have been improved compared to the Starlet 2, but the buttons are still in the same place. On the other hand, that's just the way it is with compact sex toys, sometimes you have to contort your fingers a little.

Womanizer Starlet 3 User Guide

Small but effective? Womanizer's revolutionary Pleasure Air technology is also used in the Womanizer Starlet 3. But can the little star of the range deliver what it promises? We'll take a closer look below, while at the same time explaining how to use the toy properly.

Charging the Womanizer Starlet 3

Before using the Womanizer Starlet 3 for the first time, you need to fully charge it with the included charging cable. Like the Starlet 2, it is charged via magnetic pins and no longer via a micro-USB port. This is more hygienic and practical and also contributes to the fact that the toy is now completely waterproof.

Place the charging head on the magnetic pins of the toy. The magnets hold quite well here, unfortunately the same cannot be said for all Womanizer models. A charger is not included, so plug the charging cable into a USB port on your laptop or PC.

There is an LED in the opening of the stimulation head. It flashes white during charging. When it lights up continuously, the device is fully charged. The charging time is about 30 minutes. After that, the Starlet 3 will have a battery life of up to 30 minutes, depending on the intensity level you choose. In our test, the Starlet 3 became quite warm during charging, but that's normal.

How to Use the Womanizer Starlet 3?

Let's now move on to how to use the Starlet 3. The Starlet 3 is a very uncomplicated sex toy. It has no additional functions, only six intensity levels. And thanks to the two buttons, it is very easy to operate.

Buttons of the Starlet 3

Here is a guide to help you get started quickly and comfortably with the Starlet 3:

  1. It's best to remove genital piercings near the clitoris, otherwise the stimulation head can't attach to the skin. This also makes it easier to slide the silicone head over the skin, which brings us to point number 2.
  2. Apply some water-based lubricant. This makes everything easier and gives you a pleasant feeling.
  3. Spread your labia apart slightly. Then place the silicone head on your clitoris so that its opening surrounds your clitoral glans.
  4. Now switch on the toy by holding down the plus button for 2 seconds. The Starlet 3 will of course start in soft mode.
  5. Increase the intensity by briefly pressing the plus button. Use the minus button to decrease it.
  6. In case you do not change the intensity for 10 minutes, your Womanizer will switch off automatically. With low battery level, the Starlet 3 will turn off after 5 minutes already. If you want to switch it off manually, press and hold the minus button for 2 seconds.

By the way, the minus button is smaller and slightly shorter than the plus button. This has proven to be particularly practical in our test, as it allows for easy control of the device even without looking.

Now let's talk about the important things: Intensity and noise level. The Womanizer Starlet 3 is slightly more powerful than the Starlet 2, which in turn is slightly stronger than the first model. Regardless of the generation, the Starlet remains the weakest Womanizer model overall. Even the Liberty, which is smaller, is stronger. Starlet 1 and 2 have four intensity levels, the new Womanizer Starlet 3 has six levels. But that doesn't mean that the new generation has got two stronger intensity levels. One stronger level is definitely there, but the other one has been added somewhere in the middle, so that now the jumps between the individual levels are slightly smaller.

Although Starlet 2 and 3 are more powerful than Starlet 1, they are significantly quieter. However, they are not the quietest Womanizer models. The Liberty just mentioned, for example, is quieter. The quietest Womanizer by far is the Next, followed by the Premium 2.

After use, you should clean the toy. The Starlet 3 is 100% waterproof and therefore easy to clean. Take off the silicone attachment and clean it with some mild soap under running water. The best way to clean the surface of the Starlet 3 is to spray it with a sex toy cleaner and wipe it with a cloth.

Womanizer Starlet 3 Price Comparison

The Womanizer Starlet 3 does not cost the same in all online shops. The price varies between £42 and £70. It costs £69 in the official Womanizer online shop, and also on Amazon, as the Womanizer store there is managed by Womanizer itself. The best price (£42) can be found at Sinful.co.uk.

You can find good deals on the first two generations on womanizer.com, where the Starlet 1 is permanently reduced to £35 and the second generation is sometimes available for £45-48. But how does the Starlet compare to other Womanizer models in terms of price? Here is a small price comparison:

Womanizer Duo 2189
Womanizer Premium 2179
Womanizer Premium134 (169)
Womanizer Duo132 (189)

Womanizer Pro4069 (99)
Womanizer Starlet 369
Womanizer Classic62 (119)
Womanizer Starlet 245-48 (69)

As you can see, at £69, the Starlet models are the most affordable Womanizers. However, £69 is still a lot of money. So is it worth spending that much and buying the Starlet 3?

Conclusion - Is It Worth Buying the Womanizer Starlet 3?

The material and finish of the Starlet 3 are good, but not on the same level as the other Womanizer models. The pressure wave stimulation is also not the same as with the larger Womanizers in terms of sensation. The Starlet 3 is also less powerful. Nevertheless, the toy reliably fulfils its purpose. The high intensity levels will most likely be sufficient for an orgasm, it just takes a little longer than with other models. However, some women might find the Starlet 3 too weak. Even though the intensity is weaker, the Starlet 3 is unfortunately no quieter than other Womanizers. There are significantly quieter models.

In addition, the Starlet 3 has the shortest battery life of all Womanizer models at 30 minutes. Although the runtime is quite short, it should actually be sufficient. Experience shows that women usually reach climax in less than 5 minutes when using Womanizer's pressure wave technology. However, since the Starlet 3 doesn't have as much power as other Womanizer models, it can take a few minutes longer, as mentioned above. This means you'll have to charge it often, which is why we don't think it's suitable for daily use. It's also too small and too light, so you can't really hold it comfortably.

So, who should buy the Starlet 3? It's certainly less suitable for experienced users. Therefore, the Starlet 3 is more for those who want to get to know the pressure wave technology. However, there are two key arguments against buying the Starlet 3 as a beginner:

Firstly, unlike most Womanizer models, no second silicone attachment in a different size is included. Yet, the Starlet 3 is described and advertised as an ideal toy for first-timers. But beginners in particular should have the option of changing the silicone head if it doesn't fit their anatomy perfectly, as experience has shown that positioning the stimulation head takes some practice at first. However, you do have the possibility to buy silicone attachments in sizes S, M, and L online. The attachments of the Premium, the Liberty, and the Classic also fit the Starlet 3, but if you buy additional attachments, it will cost you about £13, bringing the total to £82. The price difference to some better Womanizers would then be minimal, in fact the Starlet 3 with attachments would be even more expensive than the better Womanizer Liberty, which has now been reduced in price.

Secondly, the Starlet 3 doesn't make sense as an entry-level model because you have to ask yourself what comes next. It's not really suitable for daily use, so what do you do if you like the pressure wave stimulation? Do you then buy a new model and spend another £100 to £180 on top of the £69 you spent on the Starlet 3? We therefore recommend buying a better model straight away. Either our test winner Womanizer Premium 2 if you have a larger budget, or the Womanizer Classic 2 if you are looking for a cheaper model.

If your budget really only allows a maximum of £69, then we would advise you to opt for a Satisfyer. Normally, we would always prefer Womanizer over Satisfyer. You can find out why in this review: Womanizer vs Satisfyer. However, in this case, it actually makes more sense to go for a Satisfyer, for example the new Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 3, our test winner among all Satisfyer models. There's even an app-controlled version of this model that costs just £8 more. Typically, these two models are priced at £68 and £76 respectively, but at Sinful.co.uk they are currently being offered at a reduced price of £43 and £52. If you are looking for an even better deal, we would recommend opting for the Satisfyer Curvy 2+, which came second in our test, or the Satisfyer Pro 2 Generation 2. The latter is the predecessor of the Pro 2 Generation 3. All these Satisfyer models have numerous advantages over the Starlet 3:

So, in our opinion, it really doesn't make sense to buy the Starlet 3. The only conceivable option for experienced users might be using it in combination with a G-spot vibrator, of course only if you already have one. But if you don't have a G-spot vibrator, or if that's too complicated for you and you just want to use a pressure wave stimulator, then you'd be better off opting for one of the models just mentioned.
